MAIN BEDS

Bed work

To keep the beds tidy in September we have to ensure that we cut back the plants, this involves cutting off old flower spikes which keeps the beds looking fresh, also to reduce the footprint of more vigorous species we also cut them back which creates a less cluttered look. We also have to remove any weeds from the base of the planets to reduce any competition.

Moving and cutting back in beds

Over the course of the year a lot of new things have been planted at the grainstore and a lot has grown out, this can create a very overcrowded look and things such as dead flower spikes can make the garden look tired. This is why we decided to re plant some things in different locations such as the Stipa gigantea that had spread wider then we had anticipated and had started to take over other plants.
